Overview
Tension Builds and Emotions Seethe Beneath the Surface
A classic of the stage, A Streetcar Named Desire is the story of Blanche DuBois, a former Southern belle, whose unexpected arrival in New Orleans sets in motion a dangerous power struggle between herself and her sister’s husband, Stanley. Tension builds as secrets about Stanley and Blanche are revealed and desires crescendo in this smoldering Pulitzer Prize-winning play.

Lindsey Angell
(she/her) For Theatre Calgary: Liberation Days. Favourite Credits include: Red Velvet, Venus in Fur, It’s a Wonderful Life (Arts Club); As You Like It (Citadel Theatre, RMTC); Macbeth, Comedy of Errors, Love’s Labour’s Lost (Bard on the Beach); Calamity Town (Vertigo Theatre); Mortified, How to Survive An Apocalypse, The Romeo Initiative (Touchstone); The Story (Caravan Farm Theatre). Lindsey is a two-time Jessie Richardson Award Winner, a Betty Mitchell Nominee and recipient of the Hnatyshyn Foundation Grant. She is a graduate of both Calgary’s Mount Royal and Vancouver’s Studio 58, and was born and raised just south of here in High River, Alberta. This spring Lindsey will play Princess Diana in Casey and Diana at the Arts Club Theatre in Vancouver. Thank you to my partner Kyle and our two little guys for filling my life with light.
Devon Brayne
(he/him) For Theatre Calgary: Million Dollar Quartet, A Christmas Carol (2018). Devon is an award winning actor/singer/musician based out of Calgary AB. He was last seen on the TC stage in Million Dollar Quartet for which he received the Betty Mitchell award for Outstanding Performance in a Lead Role for his portrayal of Johnny Cash. A passionate character performer, Devon performed internationally with Disney Cruise Lines for two years before returning to Calgary and working for a multitude of companies across the province. Recently, Devon has helped develop Folsom Prison Revisited - a show he’s been touring which chronicles the events surrounding Johnny Cash’s famous concert. He’d like to thank you all for being here and to send love to his wife for their continued support.
Daniel Briere
(he/him) Theatre Calgary debut. A graduate of the Mount Royal Performance program and the National Theatre School of Canada, Daniel has performed across the country indoors, outdoors, in school gyms, taverns, street festivals, even a greasy diner. Favourite roles include Romeo in Romeo and Juliet (Stratford Festival), Ashley Wilkes in Gone With The Wind (RMTC), Charles Condomine in Blithe Spirit (Watermark Theatre), Gary Fluck in Hilda’s Yard (Foster Festival), and most recently as Tony Lumpkin in She Stoops To Conquer (St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival). Never one to pass on a challenge, Daniel has built puppets for shows, written music, twirled from silks, animated a flying canoe, and died onstage in the first five minutes of a forty five minute act. Daniel is chuffed to appear for the first time at Theatre Calgary!
Heidi Damayo
(she/her) For Theatre Calgary: Little Women. Heidi first auditioned for ‘Crocodile’ in her junior high production of Peter Pan and is thrilled to have ended up here! Heidi is a proud mestiza prairie girl, born and raised in Mohkintsis, and she is immensely grateful to the land and to its traditional caretakers: the Blackfoot, Tsuut’ina, îethka Nakoda, and Métis nations. She is also a dramaturg and playwright, currently working on a commission from Nightswimming Theatre for their 5x25 Initiative. She is a graduate of UBC Theatre, FDC Intermediate Actor-Combatant, Wesbrook Scholar, and recipient of the HSBC Undergraduate Award and Stephen Woodhouse Memorial Prize. This one is dedicated to her tremendous English and Drama teachers – and to her Ates.

Andrés F. Moreno

Andrés is a proud Colombian artist and creator, whose interests include puppetry, playwriting, acting, directing, creation work, design, and Piña Coladas. Their acting work has taken them all over, performing on stages from Whitehorse to Dublin, and their favourite part of being an artist is connecting with other artists and sharing knowledge and lived experiences through collaboration. Most recently has been focusing on increasing accountability, reflectivity, and agency for artists through their work as a freelance director, producer with Azimuth Theatre and outreach with Theatre Alberta. for the Citadel which has included hosting productions of Hadestown, SIX: The Musical and Peter Pan Goes Wrong in advance of their Broadway runs. He has directed at theatres across Canada, in the US, and internationally in countries such as South Africa and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Daryl was the founding Artistic Director of Theatrefront (Toronto) and the Artistic Director of Western Canada Theatre (Kamloops, BC). His Beatles-infused adaptation of As You Like It has played at the Citadel, Bard on the Beach (Vancouver), Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre (Winnipeg), Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Milwaukee Rep and the Shakespeare Theater Company (Washington DC).

Additionally, Jane adapted and directed the 2022 ShakesGo production of The Merry Wives of Windsor. She has also worked for ATP, Vertigo, and The Shakespeare Company, and coaches Voice and Presence through her business Voice Activated. She has taught Voice for the Actor and Acting at such institutions as York University, Harvard University, Southern Methodist University, MRU, UAlberta, and is currently on faculty in the Drama Division in the School of Creative & Performing Arts at UCalgary.

Marlo Hepburn
(she/her/they/them) Theatre Calgary debut. Raised in Calgary, a graduate of Ambrose University, Marlo is a multidisciplinary artist who enjoys the process of art-making just as much as the presentation and performance of it. They believe the joy of creating does not have to be sacrificed to pursue excellence in art, and in fact, should be prioritized. Marlo has worked in a variety of roles with Baker Miller Pink, Calgary Young People’s Theatre, Corps Bara Dance Theatre, Fire Exit Theatre, Sunflower Collective Theatre, and Lunchbox Theatre. They have appeared on stage as Calgary’s sweetheart Marlo the Raccoon at the High Performance Rodeo, IGNITE! Festival, and Common Ground Festival. Whatever their role – actor, dancer, playwright, movement dramaturg, or stage manager – Marlo is just happy to be here. They are also a co-founder of Three Cheese Institute, the up and coming darling of independent theatre.
