About tc Mentors
Theatre Calgary’s mentorship program, TC Mentors, aims to give artists on the job training and to act as a link between independent theatre practices and the established theatre world. We are looking for aspiring theatre professionals who have some theatre experience already and who have completed their studies. Mentees may be emerging artists or more experienced artists who desire the knowledge of working in an ‘A’ house. TC Mentors aims to contribute to Calgary’s theatrical ecosystem as a whole. Please note our TC Mentors’ production-based mentorships have taken the place of our Assistant stream. So if you were interested in being an Assistant Director or Assistant Lighting Designer, etc. this would be how you would go about doing that. You must apply for this program.
Each mentee will be paired with an established professional in their chosen field, paid a living wage commensurate with position, and included as a part of the TC experience. Mentorships will vary in duration based on the area of learning, for example: a Directing mentee may be involved for a full 5 weeks of rehearsal, but a Development mentee may have their time spread out, coming into the office once a week for two months.
Please note: This is an intensive learning opportunity. The amount of the involvement of the mentorship will be determined by the mentor. Preference will be given to first-time applicants.
Applicants from outside of Calgary will be expected to provide their own travel and accommodations. Theatre Calgary may be able to provided some assistance but at this time can make no guarantees.
For more information on our tcMentors program, please email Alex Currie, Director of Artistic Operations.
Theatre Calgary's tcMentors program is proudly supported by the RBC Foundation.
