Overview
Four rock n’ roll legends are brought together in Memphis, Tennessee at Sun Record Studios for an impromptu jam session. Prepare for a blast from the past! It’s December 4, 1956, you are in the recording studio with Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley. You see them play together for the first and only time. These nostalgic rock n’ roll classics will have you wanting to jump out of your seat to dance. What a way to close out our season!

Cast and Creative Team
Devon Brayne
(he/him) For Theatre Calgary: A Christmas Carol (2018). Devon has performed in numerous productions with New West Theatre as well as Theatre Outre in his hometown of Lethbridge where he holds a BFA in Dramatic Arts-Performance from the University of Lethbridge. Prior to making a home here in Calgary, Devon spent two years, alongside his loving wife, performing abroad with Disney Cruise Lines. He is no stranger to the Man in Black. In recent years, after two productions of Million Dollar Quartet in Edmonton and Lethbridge, Devon recently developed a Johnny Cash Tribute show which he will continue to perform in pop-up tours across western Canada. That train keeps a rollin.
Samantha Currie
(she/her) For Theatre Calgary: TC Sings for Pride. A new artist to the Calgary area, Samantha is ecstatic to be a part of this production. A graduate of AMDA in New York, she has performed throughout Canada and the US. Samantha is a performer, director, teacher, and voiceover artist. Favourite Past Productions: Director - Disney’s Descendants (StoryBook Theatre), SCOPE (Lunchbox Theatre), Meg in Little Women (Chemainus Theatre Festival), Director - Little Shop of Horrors (SLS), June in Ring of Fire (Western Canada Theatre/Chemainus Theatre Festival), Marian the Librarian in The Music Man (Theatre Under the Stars), Ali in The Invisible Girl (GreenThumb Theatre), and Anne in Anne of Green Gables (Kaleidoscope Theatre). Steven Greenfield
(he/him) Theatre Calgary debut. Born and raised in Mohkínstsis (Calgary), and now proudly calling amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton) home, Steven is a Jessie and OVATION Award-winning music director, musician and actor, with credits that span over 90 productions across Canada. An alumnus of Calgary Young People’s Theatre, the Calgary Boys’ Choir and Calaway Live, recent credits include Tune to A (Expanse/Azimuth), Peter Pan Goes Wrong, A Christmas Carol, Ring of Fire, and Once (Citadel Theatre), Into the Woods (MacEwan University) performed to a pandemic-era audience of teddy bears-only, ‘Max’ in Lend Me a Tenor (Mayfield Theatre), and Million Dollar Quartet (Arts Club Theatre). He has been an instructor at Studio 58, Capilano University and MacEwan University (his alma mater). Upcoming: Ring of Fire (Theatre Aquarius), and The Wrong People Have Money (Shadow Theatre). Steven Jackson Jr.
(he/him) THEATRE CALGARY DEBUT. Steven Jackson, born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, studied a collection of various styles of music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He centers his playing on soulful fusion, blending and meshing different styles to create a unique blend pleasing to a multitude of audiences. Now playing with the popular bands Groove Academy, Mocking Shadows, and Jocelyn Alice, he has credits in Mexico, China, and other various parts of the world.
Kale Penny
(he/him) Theatre Calgary debut. Kale is a west coast actor and musician living in Stratford, Ontario with his wife and two cats. He has appeared across Canada starring in Disney’s Newsies, Rock Of Ages, and Million Dollar Quartet for companies such as Drayton Entertainment, Theatre Aquarius, The Citadel Theatre, and Arts Club Theatre Company. He’s honoured and grateful to be part of this electrifying show with Theatre Calgary after these last two years. Kale’s debut EP The Tracks is available wherever you stream music online, and was recently adapted into a musical play by Mark Weatherley. It premiered last summer at Here For Now Festival in Stratford, starring Kale and his wife Lauren Bowler. @kale.penny
Stafford Perry
(he/him) For Theatre Calgary: One Man Two Guvnors, Major Barbara, Enron, A Christmas Carol (2011, 2012), Enchanted April, Timothy Findley’s The Wars. Stafford is an award-winning theatre and film actor who has worked on stages across the country. Some favorite credits include: The Ministry of Grace (Belfry Theatre); Cipher, Strangers on a Train, Dracula: The Bloody Truth, The Lonely Diner (Vertigo Theatre); Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (ATP); In On It, With Bells On (Lunchbox Theatre). For TV: Black Summer (Netflix), Damnation (Universal), Heartland (CBC), Wynonna Earp (Sci-Fi Channel), Tinstar (Amazon), and Tribal (APTN). Recent feature films include: Secrets in the Wilderness, Rent a Groom, For the Love of Pasta, and In Plainview. Michael Vanhevel
(he/him) Theatre Calgary debut. Michael Vanhevel is a huge fan of the amazing music of the 50’s and 60’s and as such is extremely excited to be (finally!) joining the cast, crew and creative team at Theatre Calgary for this production of Million Dollar Quartet! He has played the role of Elvis Presley in Million Dollar Quartet three times before in Canadian productions with Magnus Theatre in Thunder Bay, Thousand Islands Playhouse in Gananoque and The Sudbury Theatre Centre. You may have seen him before on Ontario stages at the Victoria Playhouse in Petrolia, Drayton Theatres across Southwestern Ontario, or performing with Canadian symphonies in Niagara, Halifax, London, Sarnia, Windsor, Kingston, Cambridge or Hamilton. He sends all his love to his family back in Petrolia, Ontario.
Eric Wigston

Eric is a Calgary based actor, musician, and restaurant manager. Deitra Kalyn

Deitra is overjoyed to be ending this season with a bang!! She has been designing theatre, dance, film, and TV across the prairies for well over a decade. She is an awarded designer who was educated both at Grant MacEwan University and ACAD. Her career in design has allowed her to work with some of the best companies in the country. Jason Hand
(he/him) For Theatre Calgary: The Louder We Get, Dear Johnny Deere. Opera credits include productions for the Canadian Opera Company & Vancouver Opera, Edmonton Opera, Minnesota Opera, Against the Grain/Banff Centre, and Tapestry Opera. His theatrical lighting designs include new plays and musicals for Young People’s Theatre, Tarragon Theatre, Grand Theatre, Canadian Stage, the Stratford Festival, the Shaw Festival, the Charlottetown Festival, and Soulpepper. He has designed the lighting for a number of immersive experiences: ten of the Immersive Van Gogh and Immersive Frida Kahlo installations (Las Vegas, Pittsburgh, Boston, Nashville, New York, Toronto), Illusionarium (Toronto), and Jamie Allan's Magic Immersive (Chicago). He has nine Dora Award nominations (Toronto) and won a META (Montreal) for Outstanding Design, and is a protégé recipient of the prestigious Siminovitch Prize in Theatre.

Matthew Lane
(he/him) Theatre Calgary debut. Although he is originally from Newfoundland, Matthew grew up in Calgary. He studied audio engineering at SAE Institute Vancouver and has worked in live concert and club lighting for 4 years. Jane MacFarlane
(she/her) For Theatre Calgary: Resident Voice Coach – More than 60 productions since 2000 including Steel Magnolias, Admissions, The Louder We Get, Noises Off, Billy Elliot the Musical, The Scarlet Letter, Mary and Max – A New Musical, Honour Beat, 10 seasons of Shakespeare by the Bow and 15 years of A Christmas Carol. Jane has also worked for ATP, is the Voice & Dialect Consultant for Vertigo Theatre and the Voice & Text Coach for The Shakespeare Company. Jane also coaches Voice and Presence through her business Voice Activated. She has taught Voice for the Actor and Acting at such institutions as York University, Harvard University, Southern Methodist University, MRU, UofA, and is currently teaching in the Drama Division in the School of Creative & Performing Arts at the UofC. Jane lives in Mohkínstsis, with her husband and daughter, and our sweet lab, Trixie.
Jennifer Swan
(she/her) For Theatre Calgary: The Louder We Get, Billy Elliot the Musical, The Light in the Piazza, The Little Prince the Musical, The Kite Runner. Elsewhere in Calgary, Jen has stage managed Gracie for Alberta Theatre Projects, and The Last Voyage of Donald Crowhurst for Ghost River Theatre/Alberta Theatre Projects. Based on Lekwungen territory, also known as Victoria, she has been the unofficial resident stage manager at the Belfry Theatre for fourteen seasons. In addition to stage managing, she works as Financial Manager for Electric Company Theatre, and during COVID worked as Associate Producer for Electric Company Theatre, and Interim General Manager for Neworld Theatre, both in Vancouver. She is grateful to these companies for getting her through the last eighteen months, but is thrilled to now be returning to the rehearsal hall and live theatre.
Steven Sobolewski
(he/him) Theatre Calgary debut. Originally from Edmonton AB, Steven is thrilled to be a part of Million Dollar Quartet. A proud mixed-Filipino artist and a graduate from Grant MacEwan, Steven's previous credits include: Rigoletto (Edmonton Opera), Hiraeth (Bright Young Things), Small Mouth Sounds, Matara (WWPT), Dodona (Small Matters Production), and Hansel and Gretel (Alberta Musical Theatre). In 2022 Steven was a participant of the Citadel Theatre's RBC emerging artist program. Steven wants to thank his family and Casey for all the love and support.
Michael Luong
(he/him) Theatre Calgary debut. Selected Credits: Descendants (StoryBook Theatre), Murder in the Studio (Vertigo Theatre), Theory of Relativity (StoryBook Theatre), The Strid (Downstage Theatre). Michael is an emerging stage manager based in Calgary and is excited to be joining Theatre Calgary for the first time! When not in the theatre, he can be found hiking the mountains or building puzzles and playing video games. He would like to thank his partner, Skylar, for their continued support as he finds his way into the world of theatre.
Shelby Reinitz

Shelby is a multi-disciplinary theatre artist and classically trained singer. She has worked as a voice and piano instructor for over 15 years and has recently begun composing for theatre and film.
