Volunteer With Us

We’re proud to have a strong and dedicated team of volunteers at Theatre Calgary. There are more than 200 active volunteers that regularly give their time helping to facilitate administrative duties, productions, events and special occasions.

Volunteerism has been a long-standing tradition and is a great reflection of community involvement at the theatre. Volunteers have been a part of our team since we were founded in 1968, and many of our volunteers have been with us for 10+, 20+ and even 30+ years.

Volunteer applications are currently closed as our roster is at full capacity. If you are interested in joining the waiting list, please email us, and we will contact you when space opens on our team.

To volunteer with Theatre Calgary, you must:

Be 16 years of age or older;
Be able to attend once per production run (6 times per year) through the months of September to May;
Be confident in leading patrons out of the building should we be required to evacuate the building.

Due to the nature of the Max Bell Theatre, long periods of standing and the repetitive navigation of stairs are required while working as a volunteer usher, as well as navigating high balcony levels in our building.
