A Message to our Community and the 35//50 Initiative
A Message to our Community
Theatre Calgary is deeply motivated in ensuring equality, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion within our theatre company. We are committed to discussing different initiatives this fall on how Theatre Calgary can make a significant impact in this regard. These conversations of greater representation will occur internally within the theatre, which will include the advice of a consultant and our Board, and may include inviting outside dialogue with community groups such as members of the coalition of Calgary BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) artists, who have created the "35//50 Initiative.” This initiative advocates for Calgary's artistic community to take steps towards a more equitable, diverse, accessible, and inclusive future. Theatre Calgary is eager to continue these conversations as we build actionable plans to make our theatre a more diverse institution.
