Benefits of Student Matinees
Make the most out of your student’s visit to Theatre Calgary! We offer many interactive activities to immerse your class in the world of live theatre.
Pre-show chats with artists
Join us in our lobby before the show and get the inside scoop from a member of the production’s creative team.
Backstage tours
Explore the world of Theatre Calgary as we take you backstage to show you the secrets behind the plays you see on the Max Bell stage. Tours are available for classes of up to 20 students.
Talkbacks
Join cast members after every student matinee performance for a discussion about the play and an opportunity to ask them all the questions.
Reading Scripts
If you have any questions or special concerns about the content of the play, you may borrow a reading copy of the script. To request a reading copy or to receive additional information, please email our Box Office.
Play Guides
Help prepare your students for their visit by downloading our play guides, which include background information about the play and discussion topics for after the show. Play guides can be found on the individual show pages, approximately a week before the run of the show begins.

General Information
Start time
Shows start promptly at 11:00am. The doors to the lobby will be open at 10:00 am and we will start seating students at this time. We advise you to arrive at the theatre no later than 10:45 am.
Buses and parking
If you require parking, please inquire through Calgary Parking Authority prior to your attendance.
Seating
We do not issue individual tickets for each student. Seat numbers are submitted to the Front of House department prior to your attendance and your seating is assigned the day of the performance. Front of house staff members will be present and will direct your group to their seats, to fill the house as effectively as possible.
Important Information
Gum, cell phones, cameras, and any recording devices are not allowed. Please ensure that your students are aware of this.
For performances with intermissions, we request that students do not leave the lobby areas during the intermission. If students leave the theatre and are late returning, they may not be able to get back into the auditorium once the second act begins. House Manager warnings for intermission cannot be heard outside the lobby areas.
