Overview
This summer, in partnership with The Shakespeare Company and Hit + Myth Productions, our traditional Shakespeare by the Bow program will once again be going on the road...as Shakespeare On The Go! From July 8 - August 7, we will be taking a cast of six emerging artists to a variety of Calgary and area locations to present The Merry Wives of Windsor.
Hilarity ensues in this romantic farce about the misadventures of Falstaff as he seeks to deceive the wives of two wealthy merchants. Learning of his deception, the wives seek revenge with the help of their husbands. Will they get the upper hand on Falstaff or will his plan to trick them out of their riches succeed? One of Shakespeare’s wittiest comedies, The Merry Wives of Windsor has a contemporary perspective of small-town life in early England.
Since 2012, our Shakespeare by the Bow program gives young emerging Alberta artists help making the transition from their training into the professional theatre by working with leading Canadian artistic, creative and production teams to bring Shakespeare to life. In keeping with our tradition, there will be no admission fees/tickets to attend one of our Shakespeare on the Go performances. To help support our emerging artist program, we will once again be accepting donations at our performances.
We are proud to carry on this longstanding Calgary tradition, and look forward to having you join us this summer!
